Hello

Alan Hunt here. I hope someone remembers me, I was a pupil at Mundella between the years of 1957-1962.

I now live in West Bridgford, Nottingham and would love to hear from people who went to school at the same time as myself.

I would also be intrested of any social gatherings of former staff and pupils around the Nottingham area which are due to take place anytime in the future.

Take care and best wishes

Alan

So the 1957-1962 lot are surfacing at last!

I had a mini-reunion with Sue Fox this week, neither of us has aged at all we thought. In fact we haven't changed much, perhaps grown up just a little bit.

Interesting list from Carol Ironmonger, whose pony tail I always admired.

We mentioned Jean Hawkesley too; also where are the Swinglers, Kay Smith, the Frost sisters, David Brasher and anyone else in those years. They all seem to have gone to ground. I've just heard from Colin Jackson though.

From Richard Watson 13, Napton Close, Redditch Worcestershire B98 0ES U.K.
Mundella from 1952 - 1957 - then left to Redditch. Names from the past include Craven Stephenson, Tim Holdsworth and Micheal Meredith. Still remember Barton Hart and the Albert Hall version of Carmen and Prince Igor. Had my portable radio confiscated for playing during rehearsal. Memories of cane for engaging in snowballing against Trent Bridge and subsequent smashing of Mr. Stace's ( Deputy Head )spectacles. Anyone remember Jimmy Hill the Maths teacher? Mr Holbrook, the French teacher who walked into the back of a builders lorry whilst watching our usual riot in the prefab classroom.Memories of the sago pudding biscuits from school dinners which fed, and sank, dozens of swans on the embankment. Anyone who remembers those years drop me a line. Still have the long school photograph somewhere in the loft.

Hello there all you ex. Munkeydellans as we were known by the uninitiated. I recently learnt of the Mundella website from my cousin Sue Fox now in Virginia U.S.A. As I am not on the internet myself I have acess at my daughters in Edinburgh. Difficult to know where to begin to try to catch up on 45 years of water under the bridge[partcularly Trent]. Some of the contemporary names which come to mind are;Josie Smith, Liz Sadler, Anne High,Joan Smith, Richard Westrop[had an older sister Angela] Julian[Joe]Payne, David Smith, John Stenson[had an older brother Roger], David Hughes, and Cheg Chesterton. There are countless other faces that are flooding into the picture that I am unable to name at this time. However if anyone is out there who would like to contact me I now live in Northumberland,at 4,Locarno Place,Newbiggin By The Sea,NE64.6PX.and would love to here from you, particularly Miss Berrys Babes of 56/57 5S.Saw Monty Taylors reply to Mike-- was so sorry to hear of Martins demise, couldn't help thinking of the times we used to go and play tennis at the posh house in Wollaton Park on Friday evenings from the Methodist youth club on Derby Road. If any of you are in touch with Cliff Broughton tell him I was asking after his daughter Julie-I nursed her in the Childrens Hospital in 64.
Look forward to hearing from anyone who might remember me.
Lorna

Hi Tony Pidgeon,
What was I doing in the back of your van in 1959? The grey cells (and hair) won't go back that far!
Up to no good for sure. Are you in touch with any of the rest of those guys?
Anyone know where Pete Swift is?
Long time since you bought me a pint.
All the best

I have just discovered the Mundella website and have had great fun reading the messages. Some of the people I remember in 1961 when I was in 6US 1 were Roger Swift, Chris Hodgson, Russ Hibbert, Tessa....., Ruth Wooley, Sue Campbell, Fraser Royce, Scott Marshall and Pete Stevenson. Chris Smith who I remember well has jogged my memory for many names in his note above. Thanks Chris! I have fond memories of rowing on the river Trent under the patient coaching of Mr John Phillips on his bike on the towpath and also visits to rowing regattas around the country. This has jogged my memory for some more names; Greg Bone, John Hartley, Frank Blackwell, David Jennings,Victor Stroud, Ian Snaith and " Busby" (I have forgotten his first name) our indomitable coxwain. I also remember Sue Fox whom I courted for a while after I left Mundella and I noticed from Helen Pallet's note that Sue is still in the States. Is someone putting together a website where all the Upper Sixth form classes and names are posted by year? It would save time. I now live in the suburbs of Toronto, Canada but return to England quite frequently and I would be glad to hear from any of my old friends. Perhaps we can get a reunion together?

Margaret Lamb (now Radford) attended 1956 - 1963. I like the new format but am not sure whether the original messages still exist. Like Sandy White I was looking for Susan Hearson (later Susan Tabernacle). I recognise a lot the names mentioned in this section but they are not the 1956 intake. I recently learned that Terry Baggeley's nephew is married to the daughter of another old mundellan (Brian Peel) also of the 1956 intake.

Tony Pidgeon! Don't remember the occasion you mention but you have my friends names right so it must be true! Gillian Sissons (married John Stenson, Mundellian), Janice ??? (married Doug Scott, Mundellian, Climber) and Marian Davies. I've lost tough with them all. Sorry I missed the reunion - will the next one be in another 43 years?

I was reading about Barton Hart - what a character - how long would he last as a teacher nowadays? We had him as a form teacher two years running - never a dull moment!
