I am looking for any old classmates. I joined from Australia in 1961 and left at the end of 1963 to join the Navy. I transferred to the Australian Navy and am still here. I sang in the choir and used to play my guitar backstage during lunchtimes. I was also mad about model aircraft and electronics. I was part of the rowing crew as well. I would love to hear from anyone who may remember me.

Re Pam Reid's 2001 inquiry, this response is a little late and not too helpful, but I believe that Rita McKay married an American and lives in the States.

Does anybody remember the French Assistant who talked so much about "Mai 68" and was, after all, a rather kind person? It's was in 1973-1974. I still have a great memory of you Carol Baker, and you Ruth Travers, and you Niels (?)-you gave me a picture of yourself on a bike, ha ha, everybody knows now-and others whose names don't come back to my mind.
Carol, have you still got the Charlie Hebdo collection? Did you marry John?
My children are 20 and 18! I'm now living in Amiens-the cathedral is a marvel, why not come and have a look at it? My english is getting poorer and poorer, it would be such a good training to receive you.
Actually, I was trying to find a phone number and heard that Mundella had closed down.
Love from Fred

TO DR.FRANK PEAKE 1925 - 1928

I am Pat Dean, the wife of SAM DEAN who was at Mundella 1922 - 1927 (appx). Do you remember him? He was good cricketer and scholar. Also, he was Head Boy at some period. If you remember him do please let me know. I am arranging a surprise 90th Birthday Party for him and it would be wonderful if I could give him a message from someone who knew him. If you do know him and were able to come to the party on 10th November, in Poole Dorset, we would be delighted.

I look forward to hearing from you.

David, thank you for your good wishes. I have been very proud of the expressions of support that have been made by the UK, especially the final night of the Proms which I was able to hear over the Internet.

The whole world has been affected by this atrocity, but, in the words of our old school song, "Go Forward" is the keynote and we must do whatever we can in our own ways to bring sanity into our communities.

I have been so delighted to be connected to this website and thank you so much to whoever put the idea there in the first place. I've been able to connect up with old friends and made quite a few new ones!

Yes, I think I remember you, David, and I remember quite a few from your year. Maybe, in time, we'll be hearing from many more of the pre-'50's and early '51 era.

To Pat Gillette
Just to let you know you're not alone, I was in the M forms 45-52: also a prefect and Thoresby Captain; known for doing a bit of boxing (and being unaware of the correct use of the full and semi-colon). I used to knock around with a maniac called Bill Mandle who went to Oxford and became a university don in Australia. I became an academic myself rather late in life when ICI turned down my application for Chairman.
Still missing those halcyon days at the old school but otherwise loving life.
On a sadder note - watched the last night of the proms on TV yesterday dedicated to the victims of the terrorist attack on America. Tell your friends we weep with them.
You might be interested in the items on the War Memorial and school artefacts - see General Chat.
Best wishes. David

Dear Frank
I was interested to read your message. My father (Eric Payne) was at Mundella in the 1920s. When he was 16 (in 1927) he received a prize for Cadet Work. The Cadet leader was Mr T C Thorpe and the Headmaster was R B Wright. If you have any recollections, I should love to hear them.

Hi everyone out there. This is Sandy White (again) nee Sandra Stones. I was at Mundella in the 50s and I am would love to hear from anyone that knows of Susan Hearson's whereabouts. She has a sister called Carol Hearson if that helps. She used to live in the Meadows area (if that still exists). I haven't lived in Nottingham for 35 years so I am sure it has changed beyond recognition. Come on 50s pupils - don't let the swinging 60s kids put us to shame - let's have some input from some of you!!
