I was a bit after your time Tom, joining first form in 1934. I remember "Gaffer" White with affection as a kind gentleman. He lived in a hotel near the Midland Station and came to school on a bicycle. About 1935 or 36 he was due to go on a school holiday but failed to turn up. He was found dead in his bed at the hotel. Joe Adamson held the fort as acting head until Mr Calder took over as head.

Head J.B.White Dep Winfield,Jimmy Austin superb Shakespearean actor and mimic.Mr Games for art Fanny Blagg Nature study,Harry Bill (Stinks) Page ,a formidable gymnast Joe Adamson who was awarded the T.D.for his services in the 1st World war also Thorpe who could be heard screaming at the cadets every wed afternoon.Would like tto hear from any other old fossils of my time
